#GoGreekMedia Campaign 2019

Assignment: you will put together a press campaign for a real campus/OU/organization event that reflects your values and who you are. It will also be a plan that improves upon the collective work you've done during the first half of the semester. You will be graded based upon the improvement of your press strategy, as well as the effectiveness of your writing.

Your press campaign must include:

  • A campaign plan, which includes the dates and times you will send our your materials â€‹

  • A media advisory

  • A press release

  • A booking memo for one or more campaign/event principals, which includes relevant details and a 1-3 paragraph description of where you are trying to book your principal and why

  • A background memo for reporters and editors

  • A fact sheet for reporters and editors 

  • An email pitch directed at reporters and editors

  • A press list

In one of my classes, JOUR 3700 Public Relations & Advertising Writing, we were instructed to pick a local event and promote it just like how any public relations practitioner would. 

​

Since I am a part of Greek life on campus, I figured that I would focus on formal recruitment events that occur every fall semester. For this campaign, I decided to focus on the concept of individuality and how you can find that through the recruitment process. I chose to focus on the idea of individuality because I feel that Greek life can often be misconstrued into something that it isn't.
